Danish Canadian artist born in 1982, recently moved back to Copenhagen, Denmark after having lived 18 years in western France and South Korea.
Bachelor's degree in shoe design in France and an apprentice with Danish shoe artist Tata Blanco. Worked several years within the textile and shoe industry. Became a full-time textile artist in 2021.
Finding most of her inspiration within nature, through nature’s textures and patterns, she translates it into her kind of textile art. Using various techniques like stitching, embroidery, dying, and felting from traditional textile art, she continuously broke boundaries and invented her techniques to be able to create her vision for her art.
Choosing textile as a medium came as a natural extension of her lifelong work with the shoe and textile industry. She is also intrigued by the energy the different textiles have or are given to them by the ones who have worn them. This energy she conveys into her art, choosing each textile element she uses carefully and sometimes even symbolically. She will often use recycled materials, often with a personal story behind them.
Her expressions and themes often reflect upon the creative awakening and finding the nature within ourselves. Loving it and celebrating it even if it is dark and wild. She believes that nature is a true reflection of our own soul and being. That once you see the wonders and forceful powers within nature and ourselves as something we shouldn’t try to always tame, control, and use, we finally get to reunite with our origin. Our creativity.
